The bosonic Casimir effect in an external magnetic field

We compute the influence of an applied magnetic field on the Casimir energy of a massive scalar field confined between two parallel infinite plates using Schwinger's method from source theory. The boundary conditions are those of a vanishing field through the plates. The obtained results show that a strong magnetic field inhibits the bosonic Casimir effect and that a weak magnetic field increases the effect.
